ISLAMABAD:   Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified PTI Senator and former minister Faisal Vawda for life in dual nationality case.
Faisal Vawda while contesting election on National Assembly (NA) seat in Karachi during 2018 general election had allegedly concealed his dual nationality.

ECP has directed Faisal Vawda to return the pay and privileges he had received as Member of National Assembly (MNA).

The ECP has also withdrawn notification of Faisal Vawda being elected as a senator.
It has been said in the decision that Faisal Vawda filed false affidavit. The commission has also declared the vote which Vawda had cast in the Senate elections on March 10 as MNA “invalid”.
The judgment in dual nationality case against Faisal Vawda was reserved by ECP ON December 23, 2021.

During the previous hearing of the case ECP bench had given last chance to Faisal Vawda to defend himself.

Barrister Moid the counsel for Faisal Vawda filed the birth certificate of Faisal Vawda in ECP and it was told Faisal Vawda was born in US state California and he is US citizen by birth.
It may be mentioned that the petitioner Qadir Mandokhel had filed petition against Faisal Vawda in ECP in 2018 for concealing dual nationality.
It was said in the petition that when Faisal Vawda had filed nomination papers for National Assembly seat he was US citizen and was holding dual nationality.

It was also mentioned in the petition that Faisal Vawda had filed an affidavit in EC while participating in the election that he was not nationality holder of any other country. As he had filed false affidavit therefore, he should be disqualified.
