Lahore: Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar while allocating every Friday for meetings with Overseas Pakistanis said that Overseas Pakistanis are the asset of the nation and they will never be left alone. He further said that seats in the assemblies should also be allocated for Overseas Pakistanis. There is no doubt that giving the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis is also a historic step of the government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan. For the first time in history, special judges are working in the Lahore High Court and the subordinate judiciary to decide cases of overseas Pakistanis. He was talking to Syed Makhdoom Tariq-Vice Chairman Overseas Commission Punjab, coordinator to Governor Punjab on overseas Farooq Arshad, and other overseas Pakistanis at Governor House Lahore.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that I myself have been an Overseas Pakistani in the UK and I am aware of the problems of Overseas Pakistanis so the doors of Governor House are open for Overseas Pakistanis. We have allocated Friday for Overseas Pakistanis at Governor House but any Overseas Pakistani can meet me anytime in case of urgency. I have always stood by my Overseas Pakistani brothers and sisters and will be with them in every difficult time.
Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that Vice Chairman Overseas Commission Punjab Syed Makhdoom Tariq and concerned officers would also be present during the meetings with Overseas Pakistanis at Governor House and we would ensure that the problems of Overseas Pakistanis would be resolved as soon as possible. Any inordinate delay or injustice will not be tolerated in this regard. The steps taken by the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan to solve the problems of Overseas Pakistanis are historic. For the first time in the history of the country, cases of Overseas Pakistanis are being decided in Punjab in months and not years and special judges are hearing the cases of Overseas Pakistanis in the courts.
Governor Punjab said that giving the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis is not enough. They should also get representation in the assemblies. The seats of overseas Pakistanis should also be increased in Azad Kashmir. Overseas Pakistanis are our pride. They should also participate in the politics of the country in which they live. In order to thwart India’s conspiracies, overseas Pakistanis must also participate in the politics of European countries. I am glad that Pakistanis are becoming more successful in British politics than Indians and the political influence of overseas Pakistanis in Britain is also increasing, he added.
