Gilgit: Chairman, Vice Chairman NEPRA, DG Tariff, DG License, Member Balochistan, Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Provincial Secretary Electronics participated in the high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid.

Talking on the occasion, Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid said that the government has provided necessary resources for the restructuring and system up gradation of the Power Department. Under the new reforms, a model will be introduced in GB which will alleviate the problems faced by the people.

Feasibility of 40,000 MW power generation projects in Gilgit-Baltistan has been completed. Large-scale investment in power projects are expected after the approval of the power policy.

The Regional Grid project is of utmost importance in Gilgit-Baltistan. Instructions have been given on this project to improve the quality and speed, said Khalid.

The Chief Minister further said that the studies are also being conducted to introduce alternative sources of energy. NEPRA’s proposals for electronic reforms will be utilized.

Chairman NEPRA said that NEPRA would extend all possible cooperation for new reforms in the system.
