ISLAMABAD,   (Parliament Times) : Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement and senior Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmed Butt has said that the Indian Army is committing genocide of Kashmiris and wants to do homework for the referendum by changing the majority of the population but India should know that Kashmiris have given up their freedom. The only solution to this conflict is to achieve freedom otherwise India will have to defend its independence.
He was talking to senior journalist Javed Akram Malik, editor-in-chief daily Istikham, and editor Kashmir News Network (KNN), columnist and intellectual Sardar Muhammad Tahir Tabassum here today.
Altaf Ahmed Butt said that a new law has been enacted to target youth in Occupied Kashmir under which imprisonment for seven years is a serious violation of the Geneva Conventions and the Charter of Human Rights to the United Nations and the OIC Immediate notice should be taken in this matter. He said that Kashmiris have sacrificed their three generations for their freedom and right to self determination and they cannot compromise on anything.
It is in India’s best interest to stop the massacre, human rights violations and restore the status of Kashmiris and release the arrested Hurriyat leaders. And in the name of search operation in the civilian population, stop terrorism and violence and withdraw the army from the civilian population. He further said that there is no point in suppressing a nation which learns to die for freedom. After the failure of the Poonch operation, India must understand that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved through peaceful dialogue before the spark of independence is ignited, otherwise the situation is in danger of deteriorating further.
On behalf of Kashmir News Network (KNN), Javed Akram Malik and Sardar Tahir Tabassum presented Altaf Ahmed Butt with “Defender of Peace Award” for his effective services in the Kashmir Movement.
