ISLAMABAD,   (Parliament Times) : Chairman Senate Muhammad SadiQ Sanjarani said that making Pakistan strong and healthy is our top priority. It is not possible to have a prosperous society without a healthy nation. Reduce the risk of life-threatening diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer. The public should avoid such factors as they are harmful to the health .PANAH have to continue their struggle against deadly diseases,Our cooperation will continue.

He said this while meeting a delegation led by General Secretary and Director Operations Sana Ullah Ghumman of Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH). PANAH Ambassador Major (Retd) Mushtaq Ahmed, PANAH Technical Advisor Munawar Hussain, Secretary St. Qasim Samad were also present on the occasion.

The PANAH delegation, during a meeting with Senate Chairman Muhammad SadiQ Sanjrani, discussed the need to impose a tax / surcharge on consumption of Sugar Sweetened Beverages (SSB) and Tobacco and to reduce the incidence of related diseases. Due to the increase in diseases like heart, obesity, diabetes, cancer, according to the information provided by PIDE (in 2015, the annual cost of diseases such as weight and obesity was more than 428 billion rupees. Similarly, diseases caused by tobacco are causing economic loss to the government of more than Rs 680 billion annually. The delegation requested the Chairman Senate to play its role in enacting the Health Contribution Bill to reduce SSB and tobacco consumption.

Chairman Senate Muhammad SadiQ Sanjarani said that we want our youth, children, women and the elderly to be healthy.So that the society prospers and the country develops, When we talk about health and safety for the country and the nation,then Are always present for it.
