RAWALPINDI,  (Parliament Times) : Appointed by the Special Communications Organization (SCO) as a Brand Ambassador, Samina Baig is ready to set off for her K-2 expedition on 26 th of June, 2021. A native of Gilgit-Baltistan, Samina Baig is the first Muslim Pakistani woman to climb Mount Everest and the seven summits at a very young age of 21 years. Samina Baig has been engaged with the SCO for the past four years where she helps in promoting SCO initiatives in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

This expedition, which will mark Samina Baig as the first Pakistani woman to pitch
Pakistan’s flag at the summit of 8,611 meters high peak, is sponsored and fully supported
by the SCO. The goal behind this initiative is to promote women empowerment while
raising awareness about global warming and climate change.
Confident and excited to embark upon this journey which has been the ultimate
dream for Samina Baig, she commented, “My spirits are high as I seek prayers of my well-

wishers for accomplishing this challenge. My sincere appreciation to SCO for installing BTS
system at Concordia near Broad Peak and K-2 Base camp. The mobile coverage and
internet access in this most extreme need and this will able the mountaineers and trekking
groups like us to stay connected with their families and assist in emergency situations”
By recognizing these young talents and supporting their endeavours while they
strive to fulfil their dreams, SCO is consistently supporting the communities by serving in
these extreme mountain regions of AJ&K, GB and keeping the communities connected with the country
