Sana Ullah Ghumman, General Secretary, Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), said that the Ministry of Law and Justice has directed the FBR to introduce the Health Levy Bill in the National Assembly as soon as possible.The implementation of the Health Levy Bill would be a wise decision to reduce the burden of deadly and expensive diseases like heart , cancer and others.The results will be far-reaching.

Sana Ullah Ghumman said that the implementation of Health Levy on Tobacco and Sugar Sweetened Beverages (SSB) had been stalled for two years.Which was presented to the federal cabinet in 2019 with efforts of PANAH. Which was approved but continued to be delayed due to legal justification.In a petition to the Federal Ombudsman, the FBR made it clear that it had no objection to the implementation of the Health Levy Bill.But it also requires the opinion of the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Law & Justice removes every obstacle in the way of implementation of Health Levy Bill and asks FBR to present the bill in the National Assembly for approval.Now that the ball is in the FBR’s court, the FBR wants to introduce the bill in the Assembly as soon as possible.

Sana Ullah Ghumman said that The implementation of the Health Levy Bill will prove to be the best for the health of the people, which will have positive results, the people and especially young children will be kept away from the causes of deadly diseases, diseases will be less and the country will move towards prosperity.
