Srinagar : Syed Ali Gillani expressed his concerns over the hotline discussion between DGMOs meeting. In a statement issued, he said that the new DGMO’s pact between India and Pakistan is now in effect, adding that Whether it will ensure peace on the CFL is something that remains to be seen.

“However the development itself is as disturbing as it is surprising. Ever since India’s brazen aggression on August 5, 2019, we have been hearing assurance after assurance that there would be no engagement with India until it rollback everything it did on August 5″ it stated.”Now we know that the back channel talks between the two sides have been going on for several months culminating in the latest DGMO’s pact.” Gillani maintained. “The most important question that begs an answer is where does Kashmir figure in all this?” he asked adding that the joint statement says that the DGMO’s of the two countries agreed to strictly“observe all agreements, understanding and cease firing along the Line of Control and all other sectors with effect from midnight Feb 24/25 2021”.

” Without any reference to the August 5 2019 aggression it appear to be a process to roll back to Shimla Agreement Times and putKashmir again the backburner” press release stated.”Kashmir is not a border dispute between two countries, it is the question of the destinyand future of 22 million people. We are the principal party here and it is our say that will be final in resolving the issue.” it added. There has been much buzz, particularly in India, around a statement that says “it istime to extend a hand of peace in all directions”. While it is indeed a good thought but do we realize that if there is anybody in dire need of peace at this point it is Kashmir and Kashmiri people.
