Lahore: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar formally launched the COVID 19 Vaccination Campaign in Punjab here today.
According to details, the vaccination campaign has been launched in Punjab by administering the vaccine to front line health workers; Dr Faraz and Lady Dr Samavia Akbar of Rawalpindi Institute of Urology. The government has set up 189 centers in Punjab for corona virus vaccination.
On the occasion, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar also witnessed the vaccination process, while Secretary Primary and Secondary Health and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, welcomed the process of Corona Vaccination in Punjab and said that people of Punjab will be vaccinated against Corona Virus without any discrimination. By gifting corona vaccine to Pakistan, China has once again proved that Pak-China friendship is ‘stronger than steel’ and the two countries have always stood by each other in difficult times.
Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that the government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan successfully contained the spread of Corona virus in the first phase. The threat of Corona still persists, so the public should follow the SOPs. The time is not far when the country will be completely corona free.
Punjab Chief Minister, Sardar Usman Buzdar, said that in the first phase, doctors and medical personnel fighting on the frontline against Corona are being vaccinated, after which Corona vaccine will be administered to senior citizens along with health workers. The government will vaccinate the citizens free of cost. The complete data of those who have been vaccinated in the vaccination centers in Punjab will be kept safe and secure. Registration of more than 4 lac frontline healthcare workers has been completed.
Sardar Usman Buzdar further said that technical training has so far been provided to more than 600 people in 36 districts of Punjab for vaccination against corona virus. Master trainees will train more staff and Punjab has received 70,000 doses of Corona vaccine while more vaccines will be available in the next three weeks. To keep corona vaccine safe, 2500 ice lined refrigerators have been arranged in 36 districts of Punjab. We are grateful to our ‘iron-brother’ China for providing corona vaccine to Pakistan. Contact tracing in Punjab is going on at a rapid pace than in other provinces. The Punjab government has allocated more than Rs 1 billion for the purchase of corona vaccine if required, he added.
