ISLAMABAD:    At least 26 people were killed in Turkeywhen a powerful earthquake hit the Aegean Sea on Friday afternoon, sending buildings crashing down and triggering what authorities have called a “mini tsunami.”
At least 20 buildings in the city of Izmir alone were destroyed in Turkey whereas 804 people got injured.
A total of 196 aftershocks have been recorded, 23 of which were over 4.0 magnitude.
People flooded onto the streets after the magnitude 7.0 Earthquake hit the city.
In Greece, two teenagers a boy and a girl were killed on the island of Samos when a building collapsed on top of them.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that we stand with the Earthquake affected people and concerned departments have started rescue and relief activities.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Government of Pakistan is ready to give any possible help to their Turkish brothers and also expressed condolence on loss of precious lives.
Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani also expressed deep grief over loss of lives.
