Islamabad:    (Parliament Times)   Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front has appealed the British Parliamentarians to play their pro-active role to settle the long-pending dispute of Kashmir to ensure peace and stability in the restive region.

The appeal was made by the JKLF leaders during a meeting with the visiting members of British All Parties Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir here on Saturday. The JKLF delegation led by its vice chairman Saleem Haroon while apprising the British parliamentarians of the prevailing political and human rights situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir said that it was high time that the international community should play its much needed role to resolve the lingering dispute, which they said has been the major cause of unrest in the region. According to a statement the JKLF leader Rafique Ahmed Dar lauded the APPG’s work on Kashmir and condemned Indian act of pushing the head of APPG on Kashmir Debe Abraham back from New Delhi airport and not allowing her to visit Indian Occupied Jammu Kashmir (IOJK).

“Given the volatile situation in the region it has become very imperative now to unite the divided parts of the State, to restore the sovereignty of Jammu Kashmir by resolving Kashmir conflict amicably in line with wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people”. Stressing the need for a tri-partite dialogue, Dar said, “Kashmir issue is not any territorial dispute between India and Pakistan to be decided by these two countries but it is the question of national liberation and question of future of more than twenty million State subjects of Kashmiri nation”.

“An opportunity should be provided to the people of entire State of Jammu Kashmir so that they are able to decide about their fate by themselves. JKLF shall go along with the decision of the people of Jammu Kashmir”, Rafiq Dar said while responding to a query put forth by one of the visiting delegates while briefing them about the foundations, objectives and ideology JKLF stands for.

Rafiq Dar on the occasion sought APGK’s role for the early release of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik who is currently languishing in Tihar Jail.

JKLF leaders also handed over a document prepared by JKLF founder and Patron-in-Chief Late Amanullah Khan and a paper prepared on Yasin Malik by party’s diplomatic bureau head Prof. Raja Zafar Khan to Debe Abraham for her consideration.
