Karachi: North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (Nkati) and Police Department have agreed to work jointly to protect the lives of industrialists in the industrial area and to ensure a conducive business environment. Under which CCTV cameras would be installed in the industrial area, so that criminal elements are closely monitored and internal and external routes are monitored.

This was addressed at a meeting held at NKATI in which SSP Central, Mr. Arif Aslam Rao, Patron in Chief Nkati, Mr. Captain A. Moiz Khan, Mr. Akhtar Ismail, chief crime monitoring cell, Mr. Sadiq Muhammad, ceo, NKIDMC, SVP NKATI, Mr. Imran Moiz Khan, Deputy Chief CMC, Mr. Syed Yasir Ali, Chief DMC, Mr. Faroo Khatora, Mr. Shahzad Elahi, and other members attended the meeting.

Mr. Arif Aslam Rao, SSP Central, Addressing the meeting after the visit of Crime Monitoring Cell in Nkati, said that the industrial community has a vital role to play in the country’s economic development. The top priority is to make industrial areas crime-free. For this, the installation of hidden cameras is extremely important.

He assured the CMC to provide services to 50 police personnel and said that CMC would soon be given a police mobile. He appreciated the performance of North Karachi Industrial Area Police Station for controlling street crime. He said that an integrated strategy would be devised to control the street crime so that the industrial area could be completely cleared of crime.

Mr. Capt. A. Moiz Khan, Patron in Chief Nkati, said that development work in the North Karachi Industrial Area is booming, but there is a huge encroachment on roads. We knocked on the door of every forum, including Chief Minister Sindh and Commissioner Karachi to end the encroachment, and tried to convince that to end encroachment is crucial for the export industry to deliver its results, so that the supply of raw material to industries and export goods ensure timely delivery to ports.

Mr. Akhtar Ismail, chief crime monitoring cell, said crime monitoring cell is being updated, while 80 to 90 cameras will be installed in the area. This will keep the entire North Karachi Industrial Area in view and the law and order situation will be even better. Because of the sheer rise in unemployment, street crime is also on the rise. He further said that the 50 policemen, who were formerly dupated at the CMC should be reassigned to the Crime Monitoring Cell.
