MUZAFFARABAD:      Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has stressed the free world to help the Kashmiri people in turning the dark night of slavery into the bright dawn of freedom and tranquility.

In a broadcast message on the occasion of black day observed on 72nd anniversary of the Indian occupation of Kashmir on Sunday, he said that the international community must not ignore the Kashmir issue perceiving it a territorial dispute between the two countries, but realize it an issue of the freedom and right to self-determination of more than fifteen million people

The AJK president reminded that the international community had recognized right of self-determination of Kashmiri people under the relevant UN resolutions passed seven decades ago.

“October 27 is the darkest day in the history of Kashmir when India had landed its army in Kashmir on this day in 1947, and had occupied a vast part of the state,” he said adding that the Kashmiri people had refused to accept this aggression.

Sardar Masood Khan said that since then, India has been continued systematic massacre, genocide and ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri people, and this year another darkest night set in on August 5 when India with the help of its 900,000 troops, once again stormed the held territory, and besieged the whole population, and stripped the state of its separate identity.

He said that those resisting the unlawful occupation of Kashmir were being killed, injured, maimed and incarcerated, the women are being molested while the whole political leadership has been put behind the bars.

More than 13,000 youth have been arrested and detained in different notorious prisons since August 6. “In spite of all these brutalities, the Indian rulers claim that the situation in occupied Kashmir is normal,” he expressed astonishment.

The AJK president said that 2019 was the worst year particularly for the people of Azad Kashmir also because the Indian occupation army from the other side of the Line of Control, in violation of ceasefire agreement carried out firing and shelling, and martyred more than 50 people, and injured or rendered disabled more than 250 civilians besides causing irreparable loss to their property.

“The Indian army uses cluster ammunition to kill and maim children innocent civilian in violation of international law,” he added.

The AJK president warned that if the Kashmir issue is not resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people, and the international community does not take notice India’s war hysteria, no one would be able to avert war in this region.
