Karachi: Noted economist and Pasban Democratic Party leader Dr Shahida Wizarat has said that It is very disturbing to note that while the Government of Pakistan has rejected the commercial production of GM corn US AID, other aid agencies, international financial institutions, multinational food cos, NGOs are violating government decisions.
They are challenging the writ of the government through giving GM food as aid to the poor and most vulnerable segments of the society, encouraging farmers to use GM seeds, importing GM products produced in India and other countries.
This amounts to challenging the writ of the government through importing GM corn, promoting GM seeds thus unleashing a biological warfare against the people of Pakistan. It is part of the hybrid war that General Bajwa drew our attention towards.
I urge all state institutions and government organizations to take notice of this and stop those indulging in it for increasing their profits or unleashing biological warfare against the people of Pakistan.
