Announces 5-lakh rupee grant for Dhirkot Bar Association,

DHIRKOT:   (Parliament Times)     The AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider khan said he would quit politics if compromising of appointments of high court judges was proved.

Addressing the newly elected office bearers of Dhirkot bar association here on Tuesday he said increase in the number of judges ensured decrease in the cases in the judiciary.

He assured that government would take all measures for judiciary’s dignity and honour. Judiciary is an institution and not the name of a personality, he added. He said he always considers himself accountable before the judiciary. He said there should not be any ambiguity as constitution had determined the role and powers of legislative, judiciary and administration. Every institution of the state should adhere to the constitutional role of these institutions.

Mr. Haider also assured that perks and privileges of public prosecutor would be enhanced but they should also improve their performance.

He said 36% percent budget of physical planning and housing was being spent on provision of residential facility to judiciary. He said executive powers of Kashmir Council had ended after 13th amendment and added that illustration on constitutional affairs is yet to be clarified for mechanism of filing a reference against judges. He said he intended to meet late Khalid Ibrahim, who was wrongly briefed on the matter of appointment of judges at that time, but he was informed that he (Khalid) was not feeling well. He said even flattering of judiciary also falls into contempt of court citing the instances of the cases of Ch. Ghulam Abbas and late Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah who faced Abdo and sedition charges respectively.

He said sometime his statements are misconstrued by media but he does not care as long as it is in the interest of Pakistan.

The Premier clarified that it was a complain registered against chief justice of supreme court by Hassan Ibrahim Khan and not a reference.

Regarding Kashmir issue he said the role of AJK government in consultation with all political parties and APHC leadership should be clearly defined or determined. He said India was ideologically ally of western powers who had trade interests with that country. India and western powers were part of great game against Muslims, he stated.

Referring to Kashmir issue he questioned if a referendum could be held in Sudan and East Timour why it can’t be held in Kashmir? He said Kashmiris were fighting the war of their survival in IOK. We have to give them all out support.

Mr. Haider reiterated that his government enforced NTS and restructured PSC. He claimed that 25% admissions of students in public schools were increased because of NTS. He remarked that only competent teachers were being inducted in colleges through PSC.
