MIRPUR (AJK): Members from diverse segments of the society here on Tuesday paid rich tributes to renowned senior Kashmiri journalist Nadeem Ahmed Siddiquee (Shaheed) at a condolence reference hosted by the Kashmir Press Club Mirpur to remember him for his life time meritorious services in the field of journalism.

Nadeem Siddiquee (45), working for a private tv channel, had embraced shahadat during the course of his profession duties in a road accident while moving for the coverage of the events at the areas close to this side of the line of control in Bhimbher district on Saturday last.

“Nadeem Ahmed Siddiquee was senior distinguished journalist who established his good repute not only in AJK, but also among journalist quarters in Islamabad and in the United Kingdom, through his high intellect and pen in a short span of time in the field of journalism as a vibrant working journalist” said the speakers while paying rich tributes to the departed soul.

The largely-attended condolence reference congregation held at the KPC auditorium was addressed among others by Mr. Dilawar Hussain, father of Nadeem Siddeequi, retired chief justice of AJK Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, ex Advisor to AJK government Ch. Muhammad Ashraf, Director General MDA Ch. Ejaz Raza, Additional Commissioner Mirpur division Ch. Tariq Mahmood, DC Mirpur Sardar Adnan Khusheed, Station Director AK Radio Mirpur Muhammad Shakeel, Arshad Mahmood Butt, Major (Retd) Khizer Hayat, Prof. Muhammad Razaq, Kashmir Press Club President Sajjad Jiraal, ex KPC Presidents and Senior Kashmiri journalists Altaf Hamid Rao and Raja Habib Ullah and Arshad Mahmood Butt (Member Board of Governors AJK Press Foundation), Muhammad Riaz Inqlabi Advocate, UK-based Kashmiri journalists Sajid Yousaf Chaudhri and Ch. Jabran Ahmed, Prof. Mirza Shahid Munir Jiraal, city Administrator Tahir Mirza, President District Bar Association Ch. Tariq Bashir, Mufti Zubair Naqshbandi, President CUJ Muhammad Zafeer Baba, Journalist Sheir Baz Munir and others.

Speakers said that the departed journalist was a man of high character, intellect and pen who rendered greater services in the field of journalism. His long-time services in journalism particularly to the Kashmir cause, uplift of the AJK and for the rehabilitation and welfare of the poor and down trodden would always be remembered, Speakers said.

Siddiquee, they said, was the strong voice against the injustices, corruption and irregularities in the society and the public-sector functionaries particularly, which he highlighted through his investigative reports on various issues. Speakers called for immediate possible due assistance and relief by the government for the bereaved family of the departed journalist.

Kashmir Press Club President Sajaad Jaraal announced on this occasion to establish a trust in the club in acknowledgement of the high journalistic services of late Nadee Siddeequi for the welfare of the families of the Siddeequi-like late journalist who embraced martyrdom during the course of their professional duties.
