Karachi: State Bank of Pakistan has allowed the banks and development Finance Institutions (DFIs) for opening accounts of the Afghan refugees.
For this, it has been directed to use Proof of Registration (POR) issued by the NADRA as identity documents.
After the directions of the State bank, afghan refugees will get a chance to benefit from banking services.
Afghan refugees had been deprived of using their banking services despite residing and doing business in the country since the last several decades.
Spokesperson state bank said that now afghan refugees can open their bank accounts and this is the first opportunity when they will be able to take benefit of it.
POR present at afghan refugees will work as National identity card for the verification service.
Banks and DFIs will make the confirmation of afghan refugees from NADRA to open their accounts.
One of the former Chief of state bank said that this is a good decision as it will help government and state bank to keep an eye on the financial activities Afghan refugees.
