MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The deputy commissioner Muzaffarabad division Badar Munir while taking notice of news in press regarding swine flu in Muzaffarabad has sought a report about it from AJK Health department.

Officials of health department informed the DC that their department was taking all possible steps for protection of swine flu and seasonal influenza. “All the public hospitals of the state have been put on high alert in this regard. Public Health department, district health officer (DHO) and all the health centers have been nominated as focal persons. Details of reported cases are sent to Administrative Officers of health centers on daily basis and directions are issued for their treatment” DC was informed.

Officials said an isolation ward has been set up for such patients in AIMS in Muzaffarabad where doctors and paramedical staff remains on duty round the clock. Officials said vacations of CDC staff of public health have been cancelled and they have been placed on health education assignments. Official claimed that situation of swine flu in AJK is well under control.

The DC was informed that only 8 cases of swine flu and influenza were identified in AJK so far. “At the moment no patient of such sicknesses was under treatment in any hospital of the State. Medicines for treatment of this fatal disease were available with health department while vaccine was also available in the market” officials of public health told.
