London: While paying glowing tributes to Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat the Kashmir Voice International (KVI) has said that Bhat had sacrificed his today for tomorrow of coming generations.

In a meeting held today (Monday) in London the KVI said, “Bhat stood with conviction and determination against the occupation of our motherland, suffered torture but did not yield as he was a great revolutionary who was hanged for his unflinching faith in what he believed and did”.

Terming Maqbool Bhat as the idol of inspiration and epitome of courage the KVI said that Maqbool will be remembered for making our freedom struggle a people’s movement and creed for our youth.

KVI honors the death of Maqbool Bhat and the sacrifices of thousands of people young and old. This day marks the remembrance of lives of our freedom fighters who laid their lives for the glorious cause of liberation of their motherland.

“Maqbool was a revolutionary thinker, a potent secular symbol of rebellion who stood with conviction and determination against the occupation of our Motherland. India killed this brave son of Kashmir but not his ideas and philosophy which inspired Kahmiris and thousands of Maqbools were born, our struggle became peoples movement and creed for youth”, the statement said.

The KVI reitierated its demand of floating of Maqbool Foundation to provide scholarships for the pursuit of education to the children of those who sacrificed their lives in the freedom movement. The KVI also demanded that mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat be handed over to his family in Kashmir.

Expressing solidarity with Kashmiri people the KVI demanded an end to the gross Human Rights Violations committed by the Indian occupying forces. KVI also demanded the release of thousands of innocent prisoners languishing in different jails of India
