Brussels: Speakers at a gathering in Brussels have asked the Indian government to hand over mortal remains of Kashmiri martyrs Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru to their families for a proper burial in Kashmir.

The event was arranged by Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) at the EU headquarters in connections with martyrdom’s anniversaries of both of the prominent Kashmiri figures. The program was started with recitation of Quran by Journalist Hafiz Unib Rashid.

Senior office bearer of Kashmir Council EU Ch Khalid Mahmood Joshi, Senior Kashmiri leader Sardar Sadique, Chairman Kashmir-Info, Senior Journalist and Intellectual Khalid Hameed Farooqi, Member Brussels Parliament Dr Zahoor Manzoor, local government member Amir Naeem Sunny and Raja Khalid addressed the gathering.

The speakers asked Indian government to hand over of the mortal remains of Maqbool But and Afzal Guru to their families in Kashmir for a proper funeral and decent burial. Paying rich tribute to Butt and Guru, they said, the two great martyrs are lights for struggle of the people of Kashmir for their right to self-determination.

They said, Indian acted inhumanely by holding bodies of the martyrs at jail premises for a long time. No human being and no one of the civilised societies in the world accept such ruthless behaviour as India is doing with the Kashmiris.

They added, the people of Kashmir are struggling for the rights of self-determination accepted under UN Security Council’s resolutions and as per a promise committed by the Indian Authorities.

They also appealed for ban on the dangerous weapon of pellet guns which are being used against the peaceful protesters in the occupied valley. The speakers demanded the world community to stop atrocities against the innocent and peaceful people of Kashmir and play its role in a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
