WASHINGTON: Pakistan permanent representative to UN, Maleeha Lodhi has said expansion in UN Security Council (SC) should be made in the interest of all countries rather than a few countries.

Addressing UN General Assembly session she said increase in permanent members will expand privilege, influence and power.
She went on to say that ambition of a few countries to become permanent members of UNSC is not allowing the talks process to succeed.

She held non permanent members elected on democratic principles are the best source to make Security Council transparent, active and effective.

Citing to IGN, Inter-government negotiations she said those which are demanding review in IGN process should first look into their own position. We should not put in jeopardy IGN process due to ambitions of some members, she stressed.
