RAWALPINDI: About 500 female teachers transferred from other districts of Punjab have been put in mental agony by the education department Rawalpindi by not posting them in government schools despite court’s orders. As per media reports, the female teachers go for making rounds upon rounds of the education department daily with the vibrant hope for their posting in some school but return with diminishing hope stricken by delaying tactics of officials. Three months earlier secretary Education Punjab transferred 500 female teachers from other districts of Punjab to Rawalpindi. However the court stopped implementation of their transfer orders on a petition filed by Punjab Teachers Union against inter districts transfers. Later the transferred female teachers filed petition praying the court to order for implementation of their transfer orders. Justice Athar Mehmood of Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench gave decision in favor of these lady teachers on January 23 but court’s orders in connection with their induction on vacant seats in schools have not been implemented so far. The female teachers said that as per education department rules the married female teachers are entitled to be transferred to the city wherein their husbands are posted. But under the pressure of union education department Punjab is not issuing adjustment orders for the female teachers transferred under inter district transfer policy.
