MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The AJK cabinet development committee held its second meeting during the financial year 2018-19 on Wednesday.
The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan gave approval for three projects to be completed at a cost of 1 billion, 32 crore and 54 lakh rupees. The projects relate to communication and works under which 40 link roads would be bettered and reconditioned in Muzaffarabad district while six buildings each for inter-colleges and degree colleges would be constructed.
Addressing the meeting the Premier said his government spent development budget according to people’s needs and under a long comprehensive planning. Pointing out flaws of previous governments he said projects were approved with any strategy or priority. On average 2 crore rupees were kept annually of a 50 crore rupees’ project resultantly lots of time and resources were spent by the time the project was completed, he stated.
“Present government not only completed the development projects of previous government but also kicked off hundreds of new projects. Due to past government’s blemishes and poor planning, today we need 40 crore’s budget for project of construction of houses for education department. Same is the position of other departments” he said.
Mr. Haider said not only our government got the development budget doubled but also spent it on ground which could be viewed by one. He said we are planning to ensure that people’s basic needs are met and dream of durable development is materialized in the next five years. He urged for timely and standard completion of all the ongoing development projects with accelerated pace of work. It is our top priority to provide basic amenities of life to people at their door step, he claimed. He said his government continues development process in view of needs of the people and not on political motivation. He emphasized the ministers and secretaries to ensure effective monitoring of the projects with transparency.
The meeting was attended by senior minister Ch. Tariq Farooq, ministers, chief secretary Daud Ahmed Khan, additional chief secretary development Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, secretaries and heads of departments.
