MUZAFFARABAD : (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that all the matters with federal government relating environment and economic issues have been satisfactorily resolved.
Addressing AJK legislative assembly here on Tuesday he told that federal government was informed regarding reservations of AJK government on Kuhala hydropower project. He expressed hope that our reservations would also be addressed on Kuhala project.
“In response to our letter, the prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan had constituted a high level committee, consisting of representatives of important institutions. The committee agreed to four points of AJK government. The report to this effect had also been sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan” he said.
The premier said that government took immediate notice of environment and economic issues after completion of Neelum-Jhelum project and constituted a committee comprising of party heads in AJK legislative assembly. All parties conference was also held represented by influential figures of Muzaffarabad, he explained. On the move of AJK government federal government constituted a high level committee and sought its report, he stated. He said the committee has submitted its report which is in favour of AJK government. He said Neelum Jhelum is an important national project. Recounting the sacrifices of people of Kashmir for Pakistan, he said Pakistan was ultimate goal for Kashmiris.
Regarding parliamentary democratic set up in AJK, the Prime Minister said democracy was really flourishing in the State. Pakistan witnessed marshal law many times but democracy was never derailed in AJK, he observed. All the political parties have a role behind this success story, he said.
Mr. Haider noted that India was not letting the composite dialogue between India and Pakistan to be result oriented. There were talks at all levels in the past 70 years but it ended without producing any result mainly due to obduracy of India, he remarked. He was of the view that Modi had unleashed a fresh sring of terror in IHK to enhance his vote bank. He suggested that a parliamentary delegation consisting of members legislative assembly from both sides of Kashmir should be formed which should brief to entire political leadership of Pakistan, bar councils, lawyers associations and media on atrocities and human rights abuses in IHK. He said India was committing naked aggression against civilian population from across the LoC.
Mr. Haider disclosed that assembly session would continue for at least 60 days in a year. He reiterated that opposition would be given due respect and representation in the house always. He said Nawaz Sharif had rendered valuable services for the democracy.
The Prime Minister congratulated to MLA Amir Altaf on being elected as deputy speaker in legislative assembly.
