Peshawar: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Saturday criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for its incompetence to address the challenges facing the country.
He was speaking at a ceremony at the party’s central secretariat, where he launched the membership drive for the intra-party election. Aftab Sherpao expressed concern over the non-serious attitude of the parliamentary committee formed to probe in to allegations of rigging in the 2018 general election and said that its members could not even finalise the terms of reference (ToRs) to carry out its task.
He said the government had indulged in non-issues in a bid to divert the attention of the people and the matter has been put on the backburner. “Even the role of the opposition parties is very discouraging as they have not played their role in raising this important issue,” he maintained.
The QWP leader said the rupee had depreciated and the country’s economy was in a bad shape despite the fact that the government received financial assistance from Saudi Arabia and China. “The government should share with the Parliament the conditions attached to the Saudi and Chinese financial assistance,” he demanded. The QWP leader said that the visa regime should also be relaxed and the Afghans provided medical treatment facilities.
