Melbourne: Jasprit Bumrah picked up 9 wickets in the third Test vs Australia at the MCG
• India have taken an unassailable 2-1 lead in the ongoing four-Test series
• Bumrah received praise from former cricketers, including Australia greats, for his showing in Australia
Jasprit Bumrah has been the success story of 2018 for Indian cricket. After making his Test debut early this year in South Africa, Bumrah now has 48 wickets in just nine matches in the longest format of the game. In his first Boxing Day Test, he ripped apart the Australia batting order in the first innings with six wickets and then picked three in the second to take India to victory.
Bumrah said he had always dreamt of playing Test cricket and it was a “great feeling” for him to help India win such a big match against Australia Down Under.
“To play Test cricket is a great feeling: be it Boxing Day or any other day. I always wanted to play Test cricket. I made my India debut in Australia, so great feeling. I am really happy to contribute to team’s success,” Bumrah said after receiving the man-of-the-match award.
“I always focus on consistency. When you have so many options, you may get confused. Someday you get wickets, someday another mate will, but we don’t think about those. Bowled a lot, but I don’t mind, because this is why we train. We bowl a lot in Ranji-Trophy cricket, and it pays off. When I made my ODI debut, it was always a dream to play Test cricket.
