Islamabad: (Parliament Times) NUST in collaboration with Chinese International Technology Transfer Centre (CITTC) is all set to establish China Pakistan Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTC) at NUST. CITTC is a joint project of Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and Beijing Municipal Science and technology Commission, that provides a professional international technology transfer platform between China and other countries across the world.
The China Pakistan Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTC) is a result of an MoU signed between NUST and CITTC In Beijing. CPTTC will thus facilitate technology transfer between China and Pakistan, providing soft-landing to companies of both the countries to enter into each other’s’ markets. The centre will act as a bridge and gateway between the industries and innovative resources of both the countries. The centre will be established at National Science and Technology Park (NSTP), a flagship project of NUST set to be inaugurated in January 2019.
Speaking at the occasion, Lt Gen Naweed Zaman, Rector NUST termed the establishment of CPTTC as a landmark achievement for CITTC and NUST being the first ever international centre established at any Pakistani University to promote two-way technology transfer between the two friendly nations. Rector NUST also highlighted various steps being taken by Government of Pakistan to promote Science, Technology & Innovation (STI) and entrepreneurship in the country which interalia include emphasis on knowledge economy and private sector led growth as pillars of National Vision duly reflected in National STI Policy and Strategy. Establishment of National Incubation Centres by MoIT&T as well as National Centres of Excellence in various Universities by MoPD&R and HEC was also highlighted along with NUST growing contribution in innovation and knowledge economy of the country.
Mr Huang Ping, Director of CITTC, welcomed NUST team and highlighted the significance of CPTTC especially under CPEC for industries, Hi-Tech SMEs and startups to transfer technology and establish offices in each other countries. He also informed about CITTC’s existing international linkages with other countries across Europe, US, Australia, Singapore etc that has resulted in tangible outcomes. He envisioned CPTTC to be the bedrock for technology transfer between the two countries, requirement of which has attracted great attention due to increasing emphasis by the new government in Pakistan.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr Ata Ur Rehman, Counsellor at Pakistan Embassy on S&T, Mr Ma Minxiang, Dy Dir China-South Technology Transfer Centre and Dr Nassar Ikram, Pro Rector Research & Innovation NUST beside other officials from Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, CITTC, China ASEAN Innovation Centre and Innoway incubator Beijing.
