Altaf Hamid Rao, MIRPUR (AJK): As the upper reaches especially in southern part of Kashmir received fresh snowfall, the local Meteorological department on Thursday predicted a dry spell for next ten days
Talking to this Correspondent on Thursday, the Met Department sources said that there is no forecast of rain or snow in the next ten days at either side of the line of control in Kashmir.
“We are predicting a dry spell from today (Thursday) till next one week to ten days. There can be light snowfall in higher reaches as well but overall the weather in these days would remain almost dry,” the sources added.
Meanwhile, the higher reaches in Southern part of occupied Kashmir including Anantnag areas, Shopian and others received a fresh snowfall, says a report reaching here tonight from across the line of control.
The plains also received light snowfall since Wednesday evening, brining the temperature further down.
Meanwhile, an official in MeT department told KNS that the night temperature across the Valley would go further down while as the day temperature would likely increase from tomorrow or in upcoming days.
Meanwhile, t Srinagar-Jammu highway continued to remain closed for the second consecutive day due to fresh snowfall in Banihal and other areas.
The report quoted the traffic officials as saying that the highway continued to remain closed for the second consecutive day after the fresh snowfall occurred at many places here.
The report said that the road was closed to ensure safety of passengers who are travelling on the either sides of the road.
