MIRPUR (AJK): (Parliament Times) AJK transport minister Nasir Hussain Dar said here on Wednesday that the public transport system in Azad Jammu Kashmir is being made harmonious to the needs of the modern age annexing the prevalent transport policy of the state.
He was addressing a high level meeting of the regional transport authority here on Wednesday. Senior Member Board of Revenue Fiyaz Ali Abbasi, Divisional Commissioner and Chairman Regional Transport Authority Mirpur Division Muhammad Tayyeb, SSP Traffic AJK Muhammad Musa, Secretary AJK Regional Transport Authority Nadeem Janjua, ADC (G) Mirpur Raja FArooq Akram Khan and other senior officials attended the meeting.
The minister continued that the State government was bent upon to ensure safe and comfortable travelling facilitates in the public sector to the commuters. He warned the AJK Transport Authority and the traffic police that there would be zero tolerance in non-compliance and implementation of the traffic rules.
Dar said that out-dated public transport vehicles will not be allowed to ply. He said that the public transport would be made harmonious to the prevailing rules and regulations strictly.
The minister said that the public transport fares are being revised and fixed in line with the distance and duration of the journey to discourage the trend of overcharging of the inter-city and inter district routes across AJK.
He directed the AJK Transport Authority to strictly follow the prevailing public transport policy while issuing the route permits. Nasir Hussain Dar warned the public transporters of initiation of the punitive action in case of overcharging of the fair and overloading on different determined inter-district and inter-city routes.
SMBR AJK Fiyaz Ali Abbasi on this occasion directed the officials of the State Road Transport Authority of AJK to move for making the complete registration of the public and goods transport operating in Azad Jammu Kashmir under the spirit of the law of the land
