Karachi: Pasban Democratic Party President Altaf Shakoor has said that release and repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui would improve the image of Pakistan and increase the value a and worth of our green passport.
In a statement issued here Monday, he said the members of parliament, cabinet, government and institutions should work in tandem to ensure early repatriation of the daughter of the nation. He said this should be considered as national obligation. He said during last 15 years Dr Aafia has been braving inhuman treatment which should be stopped now.
Altaf Shakoor said the federal minister Ali Muhammad Khan has rightly said that our heads would hang in shame till Dr Aafia is rejoined with her family. He said we cannot return 15 wasted years to Dr Aafia and her children, but at least her repatriation could be sought without wasting more time. He said the return of Aafia would increase our national honor and we would be able to tell the world that we are a principled nation and we do not compromise on respect and honor of our daughters.
Pasban leader said detention of Aafia in a jail abroad is a blemish on our face and we should shun our insensitiveness towards this important issue. He said today the holders of the green passport feel them insecure aboard and we should take steps to make the green passport a powerful and respected passport in the world. He said after the return of Aafia Pakistan would enter into a new phase and its economy would also boost. People would feel them protected and safe and they would work hard to make the country prosperous without any foreign loan.
