Rawalpindi: Special Investigation Team probing the murder of Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam (Sami) leader Maulana Samiul Haq revealed on Thursday that it had found DNA samples of five people from the evidences received from the Maulana’s room and sent it to the laboratory for further examination.
In a significant development, police arrested seven suspected people after the team announced the latest development.
Police said that DNAs samples had been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency and it will be matched with the DNAs samples of these suspected seven persons.
It also rejected the idea that the blood-spotted shirt found in the bathroom after the murder, was of Maulana and said a knife had been also recovered and its report was awaited.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police contacted the Nawshehra and Akorra Khattak police to include in ivestigation the Maulana’s secretary Ahmad Shah, an Afghan-born, living in Pakistan since his childhood.
His summon notices have been sent to Akorra Khattak by the courier service.
