Islamabad: World’s one of the well-known online taxi service Careem started looting its captains in Pakistan, most of them have decided to switch to other online services.
While riding on a Careem, one of the captain told this correspondent on other day that Careem has started looting masses, however, by providing handsome amount for advertisement on media, we don’t see any news relevant to this issues which is being faced by the masses on daily basis besides their captains on daily faces.
Another captain on the condition of anonymity said that after getting our fare from customer, more than fifty percent amount is deducted by Careem in addition of this, they set targets and despite of achieving those targets they have many other excuses not to give any additional benefits.
One of the Careem captain said, “I got a ride on 29th September 2018 and customer paid Rs:2331/- to me while Careem deducted Rs: 1206/- as their charges including regulator’s fee hence the I earned only Rs:1125/- from Rs:2331 which is almost of my fuel cost and is unfair.”
Similarly another passenger Asim said that he was not regular user of careem app as being resident of AJK but on his visit to Islamabad, he once booked a ride and captain called him and said, “I am too far from you and can’t reach on time” while he was showing two minutes away from my spot on app and when asim cancelled the ride and booked another and after reaching the destination he was surprised to see that careem charged double than fare by imposing penalty. “I was not apprised by anyone about this standard of procedure, Careem should tell us before providing a ride” Asim added.
People in metropolitan cities of Pakistan often complain verbally about substandard service and costly fares of careem but most of the times it has been ignored by the concerned officials.
Many captains of Careem have been shifted to other online taxi services as this costly fares and maneuvering of captains to get penalty benefits have urged the masses to uninstall careem and start using other online taxi services.
People appealed the Government of Pakistan to take stern notice of this online taxis substandard services besides doing legislation to monitor these online services before long.
