Karachi: Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda says the government will not allow theft of irrigation water by influential persons.
Talking to media in Karachi on Sunday, he said the government will regularly check the incidents of theft of irrigation water by influential land lords and take action against them.
Last week the Federal Minister had threatened to cut Sindh’s water share, if “theft” was not curbed.
“I am giving two weeks to the Sindh government to stop the theft,” he said.
“We will have to do arm-twisting of Sindh government if they fail to take action. “When electricity bill is not paid the connection is cut off but we won’t cut the water supply but the tap can be slowed”he added.
