Islamabad: Faisal Raza Abidi has been arrested by Islamabad police outside Supreme Court (SC) in contempt of court case.
SC took up the contempt of court case for hearing on Wednesday.
During the course of hearing, Faisal Raza Abidi appeared before court after which he was held by Secretariat police outside apex court.
During the hearing of the case Abidi requested the court his counsel had gone to Saudi Arabia for performance of Umrah therefore, hearing of the case be adjourned till the return of his lawyer or hiring of any other lawyer by him.
The court while accepting the plea adjourned the hearing of the case till October 30
It merits to mention here that SC took a suo motu notice of Raza Abidi’s objectionable remarks about judiciary in a private TV channel show on April 17, 2018.
Abidi had prayed court that his case should not be heard by PCO judges after which a two-member bench presided over by Justice Azmat Saeed was constituted and hearing was fixed on October 10.
Brother of Faisal Raza Abidi while talking to media men said arresting Faisal Raza Abidi is injustice. He was appearing in the court and he had been granted bail. Even then he was arrested, he added.
He told that three cases are running against Faisal Raza Abidi including cyber crime, contempt of court and a case is registered in secretariat police station.
