Rawalpindi: More than 5000 houses in the Rawalpindi division have been deprived of water supply for the last three months after Dhamiyal water supply became dysfunctional.
According to media reports, Dhamiyal water supply was constructed at the cost of Rs 175 million. Former federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has introduced this water supply scheme in order to provide water to different areas including Union council Mohran Ghazan, UC Dhamiyal, Liaquat Colony, Ashraf colony, Lala Rukh colony phase II , Mehboob Colony, Bilal Colony, Aslam Colony, and Khayaban Villas
After completion of this water supply scheme, the process of provision of water to 70 per cent inmates of the areas was started, although, later this system could not remain functional.
Locals of the area said that if higher authorities don’t take notice of disconnection of Dhamiyal water supply then a protest will be staged at national high way Chakri road.
They said that the protest will continue till complete restoration of water supply line.
