Karachi: Muhammad Aslam Khan, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker who was declared absconder in miss declaration case has surrendered himself before Custom Court in Karachi.
The MNA-elect from NA 254 was accused of smuggling electronic equipments under the label of importing goods for Pakistan Air Force in dozens of consignment.
However the Customs Court granted pre-arrest bails to him against surety bonds worth 5 Lac.
According to Custom Authorities he was declared absconder in miss declaration case since long.
As per the Custom Authorities, in 1997, Air Flight Unit Customs Department at the Directorate General, Intelligence and Investigation received a tip-off on smuggling electronic goods in the guise of imported goods to Pakistan Air Force. Acting on tip-off, smuggled goods were seized.
Muhammad Aslam Khan and others miss declared Rs 28.57 million as per the concerned authorities.
According to Custom Authorities, electronic equipments were smuggled multiple times from 1995 to 1997 under the garb of dozens of consignments of Air Force.
In 2004 the court had acquitted brother of Aslam Khan and had issued his perennial arrest warrants. The court has granted him protected bails of 10 day and had ordered him to appear before it.
