ISLAMABAD : Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Saturday said hoped Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will withdraw from the presidential race in his favor. Ahsan said, “Fazl is a friend and I respect him.” Fazal is a credible Politian and he has a name in the politics of Pakistan. He said they want Fazl to withdraw from presidential race but he wants PPP to withdraw its candidate. He said the nation will soon get update in this regard.
Ahsan further said that Baluchistan National Party (BNP) will also take decision in the favor of PPP in its executive council meeting. He said this after having a meeting with BNP leaders in Islamabad on Saturday. It is pertinent to mention here that PPP has asked BNP for support in the upcoming presidential race. PPP delegation led by Aitzaz Ahsan and BNP leaders led by Akhtar Mengal held the meeting.
Talking to media, Ahsan said they are here with the BNP to request its leadership to support PPP candidate in the presidential poll. However, BNP Chief Akhtar Mengal said the party will decide at the executive council meeting. Akhtar Mengal said they held a productive discussion on the issues facing by the people of Baluchistan. He said in two-hour meeting, Baluchistan was point of discussion. He said President is the only person who can bridge gap between provinces. The party’s executive council will soon decide in this connection. Mengal said they have wished to resolve the issues of Baluchistan and the arrival of PPP delegation is a good omen.
