ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has maintained the order of not handing over US citizen of Pakistan origin Talha Haroon to US and has summoned inquiry officer on this matter on next hearing.
Court has directed former additional deputy commissioner Abdul Sattar Essani who was appointed as inquiry officer during PML-N led government to appear before it on August 29.
A single bench of IHC led by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up the case for hearing Friday.
At the inception of hearing Idrees Ashraf advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioner and prayed the court to annul the inquiry conducted by inquiry officer appointed by chief commissioner Islamabad.
The court while summoning inquiry officer on next hearing adjourned the hearing of the case till August 29.
It may be mentioned that Talha Haroon was charged with terrorism by US government and terror charges were rejected by family members of Talha Haroon.
Pakistan government had arrested Talha Haroon in 2016 and shifted him to jail who is still serving jail term.
Former government on the pattern of other citizens had decided to hand over Talha Haroon to US authorities and this move was later challenged in high court.
