LAHORE: Supreme Court (SC) has been resorted to for shifting former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and his son in law Capt (Retd) Safdar from Adiala jail to home.
Through a petition the SC has been prayed to declare the home of convicts sub jail.
The petition has been filed by Watan Party chief Barrister Zafar Ullah Khan in SC Lahore registry making federal government, chief secretary Punjab, home secretary and IG Jails respondents.
The petition said that Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced in one reference and the other references are pending hearing in Accountability Court (AC).
The petitioner has taken the plea that Nawaz Sharif and his daughter have offered their arrest after returning to Pakistan from abroad and they have not escaped law. Nawaz Sharif has remained Prime Minister of Pakistan thrice and appeal has also been filed against his conviction. Therefore, he may please be shifted from jail to home.
The petitioner further said that under law any convict can be kept at any other place instead of Jail for serving prison term. There is a room in the law that the home of any convict can be declared sub jail.
The court has been requested to declare home of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (Retd) Safdar as sub jail.
