ISLAMABAD: The Veterans of Pakistan (formerly PESA) have decided to contribute a minimum of 5 per cent of their monthly pensions towards Diamer-Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund.

The decision was taken at a hurriedly called meeting of the Executive Council. The meeting was presided by Lt Gen Ali Kuli Khan and other participants included Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim, Air Marshal Masood Akhtar, Brig Mian Mahmud, Mr Salim Gandapur, Brig Syed Masud ul Hassan, Dr (Capt) Babur Zahiruddin and Maj Farouk Hamid Khan.

Water resources are crucial to our survival. Unfortunately, the desired priority has not been given to build storage dams while the scarcity of water has emerged as a great threat for the existence of our country, said Lt. Gen Ali Kuli Khan (Retd), President VOP.

It is hoped that our people will donate with the same spirit as was displayed for ‘qaraz utaro’ scheme. VOP also expects that billionaires will bring out their hidden wealth for a cause that is vital for better future of Pakistan.
