ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has allowed former Prime Minister (PM) Yousuf Raza Gillani to contest election 2018.
A two members bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing appeal plea filed against acceptance of nomination papers of Yousuf Raza Gillani Tuesday.
The court rejected the appeal plea seeking rejection of nomination papers of Yousuf Raza Gillani.
The appeal plea was filed by rival candidate Nisar Ahmad taking the stance wife, mother and mother in law of Yousuf Raza Gillani are directors of two companies and the former PM had got his loans written off.
When inquired by CJP, the petitioner told that Fouzia Gillani holds 12 percent shares.
CJP inquired if one can be disqualified on 12 percent shares.
The counsel for the petitioner said SC had declared loan write off a wrong step.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked where the court has declared the loan written off by state bank as wrong.

The court while rejecting the petition against Yousuf Raza Gillani allowed him to contest polls.
