ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Finance, Dr Shamshad Akhtar has reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to take every possible step to root out the menace of terror financing and money laundering.
She expressed these views during a meeting with US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Alice G. Wells in Islamabad. She briefed the US official about Pakistan’s participation in recent FATF meeting in Paris and measures being taken to address concerns in this regard.
They discussed the current state of Pak-US relations with particular focus on economic cooperation besides overall security situation in the region.
On the occasion, Finance Minister said that such bilateral visits enhance understanding of each other’s point of view on important issues. She also apprised Ms Wells about the current state of economy and said it is poised to move forward on the path of growth despite difficulties.
Alice G. Wells said relations between Washington and Islamabad have great importance and her country likes to carry it forward. She appreciated Pakistan’s stance on FATF issues.
