Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has ordered to conduct special audit of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) accounts for previous 10 years.
A 4- member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing the case of placing picture of screw horn goat (Markhor) on the planes of PIA instead of Pakistani flag on Thursday.
At the inception of hearing, CJP remarked bathrooms should be improved instead of placing the pictures of Markhor.
??The purpose of interfering in this case is to ascertain the reasons behind the loss of PIA??, he added.
CJP further said that due to likes and dislikes organization suffered loss and those who are responsible have formed their own housing societies and farm houses.
??The administration of PIA should be in strong hands??, he further observed.
On the other hand, SC ordered to remove the name of Shujaat Azeem and former Managing Director (MD) from ECL during the hearing and allowed them to go abroad temporarily.
Court further ordered the Auditor General (AG) to conduct special audit of 10 years accounts of PIA.
The court also maintained the ban on new appointments and dismissals in PIA except contract pilots till the decision of the case.
Later the court adjourned the further hearing till Saturday.
