Islamabad: Appeal plea filed against life time disqualification of former president Pervez Musharraf has been fixed for hearing by Supreme Court (SC) on June 07.
A 3-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar will hear the case.
SC has issued notices to Pervez Musharraf and Attorney General(AG) on this count.
Pervez Musharraf was disqualified for life time by Peshawar High Court (PHC) before general election 2013 and former president had filed appeal plea in SC in 2016 against this verdict.
SC on April 4, 2016 had admitted this appeal plea for hearing. A five members larger bench of SC led by the then CJP Anwar Zahir Jamali had heard this case.
The court had inquired during the hearing of the case “ has this appeal plea not become ineffective after polls.
Counsel for Pervez Musharraf while giving arguments had said court had disqualified Pervez Musharraf for life time. Life time ban on contesting election is violation of human rights.
The court had issued notices to AG and adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
This case has now been fixed for hearing on June 07, 2018.
