MUZAFFARABAD:(Parliament Times) The death toll of the Neelum Valley Bridge collapsed incident has reached to 12 as there is no hope for the survival of other six missing tourists, an official says here on Monday.
“Six bodies of the tourists have been recovered from the water channel while search for rest of the six missing persons is still underway,” Commissioner Muzaffarabad Imtiaz Ahmed told the media.
He said that a chance of the survival of those drowned in the icy water of Jagran stream flowing down from the snow capped mountains is very little.
He confirmed that five women and seven men have lost their lives and they were identified as Shah Zaib, Abdul Rehman Saeed, Naeem, Ifat Nadeem, Hamad and Rasham Naz. A local man Saim Shifat is also among those who had drowned in the stream. He lost his life while attempting to save the lives of the tourists, the Commissioner confirmed.
The dead bodies of the four of the six persons have been sent to their native villages through Army helicopter, the official said.
Those who are still missing are identified as, Ahmed Rashid and Muzaam Iftikhar from TIPS College Faisalabad, Imtal Mnsoor and Amna Kausar from Sahiwal Medical College, Faiza Noman, a resident of Lahore and a local Saim Shifat are also among those who are still missing.
The eleven injured persons who have been shifted to Muzaffarabad earlier on Sunday evening were identified as Ibrar, 22 a shop keeper and resident of Borewala, Hmaza, 18, a student of TIPS College and resident of Faisalabad, Adeel, 19, a student of TIPS College and resident of Faisalabad, Waleed, 21, a student of TIPS College and resident of Faisalabad, Zubair, 21, a student of TIPS College and resident of Faisalabad, Laraib, 18, a student of Sahiwal Medical College and resident of Jhang, Anum, 21, a student of TIPS College and resident of Faisalabad, Iqra, 22, a student of Sahiwal Medical College and resident of Saihwal, Aleena, 18, a student of TIPS College and resident of Jhang, Suna Munir, 18, a student of TIPS College and resident of Faisalabad, Aleena, 18, a student of Sahiwal Medical College and resident of Sahiwal
