Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Muhammad Farroq Haider Khan has ordered immediate steps for beautification of Rawalakot city and vowed to provide all requisite financial resources to turn the city best tourist destinations.

The steps he ordered to take were including preparation of PC-1 for improvement of sewerage system, provision of clean drinking water, installation of solar street lights, upgrading of health facilities and revival of shelved Rawalakot Hill Station Project.

“Rawalakot is my city and I will personally oversee the development process in the town to make it one of best tourist attraction of Azad Jammu and Kashmir,” Prime Minister said while chairing a meeting of Pearl Development Authority on Wednesday.

Assuring to provide requisite development funds for beautification of the city, Khan directed for provision of alternative land to the affectees of Banjusa Housing Scheme.

Emphasizing that development should be made without compromising the natural beauty of the area, Prime Haider directed the official concerned to make the town beautiful and environment friendly. He disclosed that government will provide initially Rs4 million for beautification of the city. He also directed for construction of a children park and sports complex in the city.

He added that there would plenty of jobs and business opportunities once the town is developed up to the mark to attract the domestic and international tourists.

Earlier Prime Minister was briefed about the under construction project of water supply scheme. He was told that a water reservoir facility with storage capacity of 240 million gallon water is close to completion while development work on construction of sewerage system, water drainage system, street lights and construction of foot path along the city’s roads would be started soon.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary Development, Syed Asif Hussain Shah, Secretary Housing and Planning, Secretary SEERA, Secretary Local Government and Rural Development and Chairman Pearl Development Authority.
