ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that awareness programs will be started at Radio Pakistan and PTV to inform the public about Thalassemia and other diseases.

She was addressing a ceremony at National Press Club in Islamabad on Monday that was held in connection with the Thalassemia.

The Information Minister said private media should also participate in this noble task to spread information and awareness among the public.

She said the bill passed in National Assembly on compulsory blood test of the relatives of Thalassemia is a good step in the prevention of this disease. Marriyum Aurangzeb said provincial assemblies also need to pass such bills in order to prevent this disease.

She appreciated the Punjab Thalassemia Prevention program which is following the international standards and other provinces need to emulate it.

Information Minister said the PML-N government has taken numerous steps to provide best healthcare facilities to the masses. She said the polio campaign has been successful in eradicating the killer virus from the country. She said the Prime Minister Health Program started by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also covers diseases like Thalassemia.

The Information Minister urged philanthropists to come forward to provide help in the prevention of this disease.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that “Elections 2018” will be held on time in a free and fair manner and without any delay.

Talking to media person in Islamabad on Monday, she said those who are talking about delay in the elections will not succeed in their designs.

She said Pakistan is fighting the war against terrorism and the incumbent government, provincial government, law enforcement agencies, army and nation rendered great sacrifices against this war.
