Islamabad: Supreme Court reserved its judgment in the contempt of court case against Minister for Privatization Daniyal Aziz, after completing arguments of both sides.
A three-member bench of court, on Thursday took up case for hearing in Islamabad, while Justice Azmat Saeed headed the bench.
Muhammad Waqar Rana Additional Attorney –General told the court that Daniyal Aziz had attacked on institution and he crossed the limit against judiciary during his speech. In his closing arguments, Waqar said that Aziz was referring to a script and he was saying about repeating history of Justice Ijaz.
Justice Azmat Saeed asked the lawyer of Daniyal Aziz’s speech regarding script. The defence counsel Ali Raza said that Aziz was mentioning foreign funding issue. Justice Saeed remarked that there should be a limit for freedom of speech. Raza said that Aziz has the greatest respect for judiciary.
Daniyal Aziz also spoke in court and said he had been working for strengthening of state institutions and respects the courts.
The court remarked that he should reserve this remarks for outside the court. Justice Azmat Saeed said that “people have started leaving the court like they leave a Jalsa since you began speaking. Daniyal Aziz said ‘’ I completely respect judiciary,”
The bench then reserved its verdict in the case.
