BADIN: Removal of illegal construction at the both ends of Kazia canal caused contention between the citizens and Municipal authorities during the drive. Citizens led by councillors including advocate Essa Mallah, Khalifa Tariq Memon, Gulzar Memon and others staged protest demonstration at Kazia canal bridge and chanted slogans against municipal authorities. The protestors pelted stones at the heavy machinery and concerned employees which caused suspension of the drive.
They burnt tyres along the main road leading towards Hyderabad and Karachi while they also paid sit in for several hours which caused suspension of traffic along very busy road.
While talking with journalists the protestors said houses and construction of poor was deliberately and forcibly demolished and influencials and rich were benefited. On the other hand, officials said they launched drive against illegal occupation and construction at both ends of Kazia canal on the directives of honourable court.
Earlier, Mukhtiarkar (Revenue) Badin and DSP Badin negotiated with protestors and it was decided for further strategy after negotiations with citizens and management as scheduled in future.
