Lahore: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has expressed annoyance over inclusion of park land in the road outside the home of former finance minister Ishaq Dar and directed that the park be restored in its original shape within ten days.
The court also ordered that money spent on construction of road and restoration of the park will be recovered from Ishaq Dar. The court also ordered for giving advertisement in the news papers for recovery of amount from Ishaq Dar.
A three member bench of Supreme Court (SC) presided over by CJP Mian Saqib Nisar took up the case for hearing Thursday.
The court inquired from Director General (DG) LDA Zahid Akhtar road was built after uprooting the park at whose behest.
DG LDA told the court that former finance minister Ishaq Dar directed to expand the road for parking purpose.
The CJP inquired had Ishaq Dar issued written directives.
DG LDA replied in negative and told that we were asked to construct road by telephone.
CJP expressed displeasure over it remarking “ Bureaucracy has become slaves of political masters.
CJP observed “ what type of officer you are that you uprooted the park on the movement of tongue of a minister.
CJP remarked that we will not allow the nepotism to prevail. As to why the matter be not handed over to NAB.
DG LDA said “ I had asked NIPA to resolve the problem of parking near Ishaq Dar home.
He requested that the case be not referred to NAB. “ I may be forgiven.
The CJP remarked “ you are making wrong statement When case goes to NAB then all start staging strike.
The court summoned the report on restoration of park within 10 days..
